Nokia

nokia 6220 tri-band mobile phone

The 'top' section allows for easy navigation and the 'bottom' section makes for fast text messaging - Nokia have designed the keypad to make text entry quicker than ever and using the keypad as comfortable as possible. The design allows one handed text entry and holding of the phone, with an overall better grip, leaving no fear that the phone may fall out of user's hand.

By moving the 'top' section of the keypad in one of it's four possible directions, when not in the Menu, the user can 'jump' to functions of the phone quickly. For example, moving the keypad left starts a new Text Message and moving it right displays the Calendar.

When the Menu is open, the user can simply use the up and down direction key's to navigate Nokia's traditional scrolling menu, which can also be changed to an icon based layout, in the phone settings - similar to the layout as seen on Nokia Symbian based models.

Located at the top of the phone is the integrated Infra-Red port and to the right of the port is an equally sized power button. The power button is far easier to locate and press using your finger, compared to the Nokia 7210. At the bottom end of the phone is the charger jack and Nokia's Pop-Port™ connector.

This connection allows for additional accessories to connect to the Nokia 6220. As well as data transfer options using the Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable DKU-5, hands free operation using the Nokia Car Kit or headset, this port also supports audio devices such as the Nokia Music Stand DT-1.

Nokia Music Stand DT-1 support.

The Nokia Music stand is designed for listening to the Nokia 6220's FM radio in excellent quality stereo sound and allows the user to make conference calls and talk hands free through the integrated microphone.

Several colour Xpress-On™ covers are available for the Nokia 6220. The cover of the Nokia 6220 is not fixed - unlike previous business class models such as the Nokia 6210. The user may replace the front and back cover with one of four colours, to give it a fresh new look.

The integrated digital camera, which supports a maximum CIF resolution of 352 x 288 pixels, is located towards the top left of the back of the phone and is protected by a clear circular piece of clear plastic engineered into the chassis. This placement is similar to the Nokia 7250i, as shown in the picture below:

Taking a picture is an easy process. Pressing up on the 'top' section of the keypad starts the Camera (or the user can open the menu and scroll to Media --> Camera) and shows a live preview of the area that the lens can see.

Once the required subject or object has been lined up on the screen, pressing the capture button saves the image to the Gallery. The 6220 has a shared memory pool of up to 4MB, with about 3MB free, allowing plenty of space for many images to be stored.
