Everglide is well known in the industry for their range of mouse pad surfaces. Today I take a look at one their products, the 'Attack' pad, which is specifically designed for use with optical mice:

first thoughts:
The pad has an oval type shape to it, with a small piece cut out at
the bottom to allow your wrist to sit comfortably. The base of the
pad has several clear rubber feet, which keep a good grip on your
desk or table. There is no concern that the pad will be sliding
around when moving the mouse.

the technology:
Looking at the pad, it is obviously very different not just
because of its shape. It's frosted plastic construction not only
looks great, but also houses the 'secret' that makes these pads so
good for optical mice.
Imbedded within the plastic is 4% reactive agent, that works with
the properties of optical mice to provide a great surface to work
on. You can see this 'reactive agent' as tiny silver particles
throughout the pad:

conclusion:
This is a great product, no longer do
we have to put up with the extremely disappointing fabric/rubber
mouse pads that disintegrate within weeks, Everglide bring us a
tough little product. Not only looks good, but is a wish come true
for optical mice owners, the pad works gracefully with them.
Being designed mainly for optical mice and having this unique
surface/construction brings great bonuses - the mouse simply
'glides' over the surface, as if it was on ice. You will also find
your mouse much more responsive, an all important factor when your
about to dodge a rocket coming towards you in your daily game of
Quake III, where timing is everything ;)
