Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball:
DOAXBV is the first of its kind, a 'Sports Fantasy Simulation' with graphics
that are really breathtaking...
The game takes place on Zack Island. Zack Island is owned by the Dead or Alive
fighter Zack, who won the Dead or Alive tournament. Zack bet all of his prize
money in a casino - hitting it big time... he lavishly spends his winnings by
buying an island in the tropics, naming it after himself and building a whole
resort on it.
He then hatches a sneaky scheme by inviting all of the women from the Dead or
Alive tournament to his island to compete in a new tournament. This soon turns
out to be an excuse to get all the girls on his island to play volleyball...
DOAXBV comes with two modes of play Exhibition
and Zack Island. Exhibition mode allows you to play a game of volleyball against
a second player or the computer. The main part of the game takes place on Zack
Island.
The in-game voiceovers are entirely in Japanese, however the opening an closing
FMVs (Full Motion Video's) for the Zack Island mode do feature Zack speaking in an English voice.
An upbeat choice of background music constantly plays in the background during
your stay. Some licensed tracks from artists such as Christina Aguilera, Bob Marley and the
Baha Men provide a nice background musical experience, with the option for your
own tracks to be played from the Xbox harddrive also...
Zack Island:
Once you arrive at Zack Island, you make your selection of which of the eight
women available (Kasumi, Lisa, Leifang, Helena, Tina, Christie, Ayane or Hitomi)
for a two week stay on the island.
The basic goal is to accumulate the collectable items available from the islands three stores, items such as swimsuits & accessories to outfit your character. In order to purchase them you need cash - cash can be collected by playing volleyball, the Pool Hopping mini-game or by gambling at the island casino.

Your best source of income are the volleyball
games... The catch is you need a partner to play, and so your first task is to
convince one of the other girls to partner up with you - and ensure that she is
kept 'happy' so she does not leave you (indicated by the number of musical notes you see floating above her head).
Each of the girls have their own 'favourites'. They have a favourite colour, food,
hobby, friends and of course rivals - some girls just won't partner with each
other. Some of the girls also require a certain 'happiness' level before you can
purchase then more personal gifts, such as bathing suits...
Their likes and dislikes can be seen and noted at the character selection screen. A tactical mind is essential here, to make a good choice of player, in order to play as many volleyball games as possible.
